PSG Overcomes Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Lift Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now secured the prestigious cup on 14 separate occasions.

The Parisian giants needed a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to get past Marseille in the Gulf and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup victory.

The European champions appeared to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the showdown featuring the French league winners and the French Cup holders after Ousmane Dembele found the net early on.

However, Marseille struck two times late to take a surprise lead. First, Mason Greenwood scored from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a vital leveler in the dying moments to send the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping decisive kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a 4-1 penalty victory.

Now 14-time champions Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons.
